Advisement Class- Students will complete their first Hour of Code. Click here to sign-in! 1st Period and 5th Period- We will take a few minutes to review the school-wide PBIS expectations. Today we will continue with the "What's the Cost of Water?" IDM. We will work on Task 4, Article 3. Virtual students will complete the assignment in Class notebook. Face to Face students have already received a hard (paper) copy of today's assignment or if they have their own devices they may complete it in Class notebook as well. During Asynchronous Time, students will read Article 3 to themselves. Struggling readers may utilize the Immersive Reader tool through Word. During Synchronous Time, we will watch the Isis and Two Rivers video. As a class we will answer a few questions together, and then the students will answer the rest of the questions on their own. During Synchronous Time closing, We will review the remaining answers from today's class. Once that is completed, the students will complete an EdPuzzle activity. Advisement Class- Today is "Reading for Enjoyment!" Have your favorite or current book handy and lets drop everything and read! I will am reading "Why are all...", By Dr. Beverly Tatum. Remember, there are REP points to be earned for being prepared with your own book! 1st Period and 5th Period- We will take a few minutes to review the school-wide PBIS expectations. Today we will continue with the "What's the Cost of Water?" IDM. We will work on Task 4. Virtual students will complete the assignment in Class notebook. Face to Face students will continue with the hard (paper) copy of today's assignment or if they have their own devices they may complete it in Class notebook as well. During Synchronous Time, We will be continuing to work through the IDM on water scarcity. Today we will be reading and analyzing documents. These are located in the packet for F2F and on Class Notebook for virtual students. As a whole class read Middle East Water Wars. While reading the model on how to highlight the document using the board that has been shared with the virtual students. Once the article has been read, complete the Summary question sheet (during Asynchronous). During Asynchronous Time, Students will use the methods modeled during Synchronous learning to complete article #3, Conflict Over Water: Damming of the Tigris and Euphrates. They will also complete Articles #1 and #2, as necessary. Circulate/check Class Notebook to note progress and challenges to address. Use chat feature for virtual help. During Synchronous Time Closing, As a whole group, we will discuss the final article(s) to ensure that all students understood. A Day- Thursday, 10/22/2020 Advisement Class- Students will read an article about the by-products of the desalination process and it's impact on the environment. 1st Period and 5th Period- We will take a few minutes to review the school-wide PBIS expectations. Today we will continue with the "What's the Cost of Water?" IDM. We will work on Tasks 2 and 3, if time permits we will begin reading Article 1. Virtual students will complete the assignment in Class notebook. Face to Face students will be given a hard (paper) copy of today's assignment or if they have their own devices they may complete it in Class notebook as well. During Synchronous Time, I will model the Desalination portion of Task 2. We will watch the video and desalination and complete a Bubble Map of the characteristics that are associated with this process. During Asynchronous Time, students will work independently to complete the remaining section of Task 2 and Task 3. Students will watch two more videos, one about Groundwater and the other about Water Treatment facilities. They will then fill out the Bubble Maps associated with those videos. For Task 3, the students will rate where they think each of these three processes land on a continuum based on affordability and availability. During Synchronous Time closing, we will begin reading Article 1 and completing the questions associated with it. Again I will model how students should complete this activity. Students will then complete the remainder for homework. Students will also be given two articles to preview over the weekend in preparation for Monday's and Tuesday's classes. Paper copy of articles will be made available for students in class. Electronic copies will be placed in Class notebook along with the questions to be completed. Students will have the opportunity to create a free Adobe Spark account, and begin creating a flyer or poster. The flyer or poster should be about "All About You!" After watching the video as a class we will complete the "Arabs" EdPuzzle activity. During Asynchronous Learning students will read about Arab culture and complete the Arab Cultures Features Form. In our study of these regions, we will be emphasizing the five main components of Social Studies: geography, history, economics, government, and culture (please note that this includes the world’s major religions).
