Advisement Class- Today is "Reading for Enjoyment!" Have your favorite or current book handy and lets drop everything and read! I will am reading "Why are all...", By Dr. Beverly Tatum. Remember, there are REP points to be earned for being prepared with your own book! 1st Period and 5th Period- Synchronous Live Opening: Today's focus is on Judaism and Christianity. The teacher will check for previous knowledge of religions by having students complete a bubble map with the information they already know and share together as a class. The teacher may show the first two minutes of BrainPOP video introducing religion in general https://www.brainpop.com/socialstudies/culture/religion/ The teacher will then run two live Nearpod sessions about Judaism and Christianity. Students will have an organizer in which they must fill in with facts about the religions. The Nearpod will include a Flocabulary rap video introducing the religions, a PowerPoint detailing their origins, and an outline of the Abrahamic Genealogy Tree. Furthermore, students will watch informative videos explaining some of the traditions and beliefs. Students will read along with an NPR article on U.S. Poet Laureate Joy Harjo, and answer questions. We will then have an opportunity to color one of four pictures that represents Native American culture. 2nd Period and 6th Period- Today's Assignment is the same as Monday's, November 16, 2020.
